Lemur Rerelease and Hello
Dear Friends,
Lemur is back on the App Store! Currently it is available only for iOS, with Android support planned for 2025.
Thank you for your continued support and passion for Lemur. As you know, Lemur occupies a very special place in the world of digital music tools, allowing you to build some of the most flexible and powerful custom MIDI tools available.
Here is everything you need to know.
Pricing Update - Feb 9 2025
No More Subscriptions
We’ve heard your feedback—thank you for reaching out with your messages and emails. The biggest concern has been about the subscription model itself rather than the price. In response, Lemur will now be available as a one-time purchase for $99, which is the lowest sustainable price for the app.
For those who already subscribed:
- Yearly subscribers can crossgrade for free.
- Monthly subscribers can crossgrade for the difference between a yearly and monthly subscription.
This change is currently in progress and requires Apple’s approval, as they may have specific rules regarding crossgrades.
No action is currently required on your part. Once approved and available on the App Store, you’ll see the upgrade option when you update the app. If further steps are needed, we will post updates here and notify you in the app.
We are also exploring the possibility of a rent-to-own model. In addition to the one-time purchase, a monthly subscription would be offered that would automatically convert to a lifetime license after one year.
Finally, we are exploring more uniform pricing across the US, Canada, the EU, and other select markets based on regional analytics.
Thank you all for your feedback.
Information for Existing Lemur Users
For existing users, we understand you may have questions about continuing to use your current version of Lemur, so here’s a quick overview:
Lemur must be repurchased to gain access to new features.
To access the latest features, users will need to purchase the new MIDI Kinetics version of Lemur. This version will install alongside the previous one, allowing you to try it without affecting your current setup. If you decide not to subscribe, you’ll still have access to your original app, as the two versions remain independent.
We hope you’ll consider repurchasing and supporting Lemur’s future development with us. But if you prefer to continue with Liine’s version, that option remains available. However…
Updating iOS may remove the old version
Since Liine’s version of Lemur is no longer available in the App Store, it may be deleted from your device during an iOS update—without your consent or knowledge. We don’t know exactly why this happens, and even Apple Developer Support couldn’t provide a definitive answer. The most likely explanation involves new security measures and developer agreements, particularly in the EU.
To keep using Liine Lemur without repurchasing, you may need to avoid updating your device.
Your projects remain backwards compatible
Projects created with Liine Lemur will work with the MIDI Kinetics version.
iOS 13.6 minimum. No support for 32-bit devices.
Support for older iOS devices and operating systems has been deprecated. We understand this decision may affect some users with older devices, but it was a necessary step to align Lemur with our future development goals. Indeed, even Android now requires new apps to target a minimum of Android 14, reflecting industry-wide changes.
